The Industriële Week combined five exhibitions: Aandrijftechniek & Factory Automation, Macropak, Industrial Processing, ICT & Logistiek and Industrie & ICT. Mirjam van den Bogaard, project manager for the first three exhibitions, is more than satisfied. ‘An exhibition should enthuse people into developing new ideas. If a quarter of visitors say they developed new investment plans here, that says something. Three in ten visitors came to Utrecht with concrete investments plans. That explains why exhibitors are so enthusiastic. They made some valuable contacts which – as one of them said – lead to new sources of income.’
One striking aspect was the large number of decision makers. More than half of all visitors indicates to have a say in investments (Aandrijftechniek 53%, Industrial Processing 54% and Macropak 62%). A quarter of visitors indicates to play an advisory role in the decision-making process. Mirjam van den Bogaard: ‘Nine out of ten visitors is very satisfied about what the exhibitions have to offer, eight out of ten visitors indicate that the exhibition program fulfilled or even exceeded their expectations. Those are numbers to be happy about.’
Five billion Euros
One of the satisfied visitors was Willem Hazenberg, of Stork Industry Services, who is at Aandrijftechniek & Factory Automation to look for suppliers for a large gas project in Abu Dhabi. “It’s a 5 billion a year deal. The entire installation consists of 380.000 assets. That is a lot. We’re in a hurry. At an exhibition like this one you can talk to a lot of people at the same time. The Industriële Week came at exactly the right time.
Jeroen van Dijk, plant manager at FanoFineFood in Oosterwolde, part of Royal Smilde, is visiting Macropak with a colleague. Both have come to Macropak with concrete investment plans. Van Dijk: ‘We are about to make a huge investment and are looking for flow packers and labelling machines. We will be here for one day and expect to make enough follow-up appointments to be able to replace all our equipment.’
Michel van Wieringen and Ronald de Wit work for the R&D division at Unilever. ‘We came to Industrial Processing to see if there are any developments in the field of pumping systems and heat switches.’ De Wit explains: ‘We actually work in the final phase of product development. We have to make sure that new products are scaled up from the laboratory phase to the production phase. We build test factories, in which we try to simulate the real situation as best as we can.’ Van Wieringen: ‘If there is one exhibition where we expect to find the solutions for our problems, it is this one. Everything is here, at one exhibition. Ideal.’
- 90 percent of visitors plans to visit the exhibition again in 2010
- For 35 percent of visitors this was their first visit to the Industriële Week
- Over three quarters of visitors went to more than one exhibition
The Industriële Week also consisted of an extensive activity program. One of the highlights was the presentation of the Aandrijftechniek Innovatie Award (AIA) and Proces Innovatie Publieksprijs (Process Innovation Public Award). Flexion won both the Applicatie Award and the corresponding public award, while Electro ABI received the Product Award for their RVS Fan motor. For the Proces Innovatie Prijs only a public award was presented, which went to One Trip, produced by Smurfit Kappa Van Dam Golfkarton.
The Industriële Week 2010 will be held from the 5th until the 8th of October.
